Marvel has presented a new poster for an extended version of the feature film Avengers: Endgame ahead of its return to movie theaters. The repeated premiere of the superhero film will take place in worldwide cinemas on September 25.
The theatrical re-release is timed to align with the future release of the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday. The upcoming extended version of Endgame will incorporate new scenes and deleted episodes that were omitted from the final 2019 theatrical cut.
Although the exact nature of the extra scenes has not been revealed, their combined runtime will amount to about four minutes.
Extended Cut and Marvel History
Avengers: Endgame originally arrived in theaters in April 2019, serving as a climax to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's overarching narrative arc. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Marvel Studios, the film united superhero characters across multiple movie storylines to confront the cosmic villain Thanos. The movie set global box office records during its theatrical screening and stands as one of the highest-grossing films in cinematic history.
The theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for December 18, 2026. Many actors who appeared in Avengers: Endgame will star in the new film, with Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of the primary antagonist, Doctor Doom. Downey earned international acclaim for portraying Tony Stark, the armored hero Iron Man, across more than a decade of Marvel films starting with Iron Man in 2008. Doctor Doom is traditionally depicted in Marvel Comics as an iconic villain and the armored monarch of the fictional nation of Latveria.
Upcoming Marvel Slate
Moviegoers can also expect another major crossover event, Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled for release in December 2027. Marvel has not yet released any official details regarding the storyline, cast, or creative team for Secret Wars.
