Meghan Markle is planning a return to screen acting after receiving an offer to star in an upcoming project in the United Kingdom.
The Duchess of Sussex was offered the undisclosed role in a project that will be produced in Britain, according to entertainment trade publication Variety, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Her prospective return to acting coincides with a major relocation in her personal life. Prince Harry and Markle plan to move back to the United Kingdom after residing in California for six years.
The couple is expected to complete the move within the coming weeks. Their two children, Archie and Lilibet, are scheduled to start school in September.
The move is expected to be long-term, though the couple will not leave the United States entirely. They plan to keep their home in Montecito, California.
Additionally, their production company Archewell and Markle's lifestyle brand As Ever will not be moved to the United Kingdom.
Royal duties and British relocation
Harry and Meghan will continue as non-working members of the Royal Family. The couple stepped back from official royal duties in 2020 when they moved to the United States.
Screen career and recent projects
Markle gained her widest acting fame playing paralegal Rachel Zane in the television legal drama Suits. She starred in the series for seven seasons between 2011 and 2018.
She effectively ended her acting career following her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, but she has gradually returned to working in front of the camera over recent years.
Her upcoming screen appearances include a cameo role playing herself in the Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends, which stars Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
