Michelle Keegan caught her husband Mark Wright lying about his whereabouts when he hijacked her live radio interview from a golf course on Wednesday.
The actress was appearing on Heart FM when Wright called into the studio via FaceTime, despite having told his wife he was at home looking after their 18-month-old daughter, Palma.
Keegan was quick to spot her husband's real location during the broadcast, expressing her surprise before demanding to know who was caring for their child while he was out on the green.
"Shock he's at golf," the Brassic star remarked. "I've got a question, where's the baby?"
Wright, 39, who works as a radio host, attempted to defend his secret sporting trip as he spoke from the course.
"She's with my mum, she's seeing her nanny today," he replied, appearing suspicious as he offered his excuse.
Unimpressed by the deception, Keegan fired back: "You told me you weren’t golfing today. You’re in trouble!"
Realising he had been caught out on national radio, Wright joked to the studio audience: "This is what I mean guys, you've got me in the doghouse!"
The Blame
Keegan, 39, was appearing on the morning radio show to promote her upcoming drama series, The Blame, which is scheduled to hit screens on September 20.
The project sees the actress starring as Detective Inspector Emma Crane, marking her first new acting role since giving birth to her daughter in March 2025.
The role adds to Keegan's prominent portfolio of television work. She rose to fame playing Tina McIntyre on the ITV soap Coronation Street, before going on to star in the BBC military drama Our Girl and the Sky comedy Brassic.
The actress recently opened up about the experience of returning to a television set for the first time as a mother, describing the professional milestone as daunting.
Speaking earlier this year, she praised the production team behind The Blame for accommodating her needs as a new parent.
"Coming back to work after having a baby is quite daunting," she said. "But the production were so supportive and I was so looked after and it was like working with family."
ITV drama departure
Despite her successful return to work, Keegan has recently demonstrated her dedication to motherhood by stepping away from another major television project to spend more time at home.
The actress dropped out of an upcoming ITV drama amid concerns that the heavy filming schedule would keep her away from Palma for too long.
Keegan had been due to play a working-class barrister in the series, but withdrew from the cast just a few months before production was scheduled to begin.
She was subsequently replaced in the lead role by former Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, 44.
Industry insiders described Keegan's departure as a "huge blow" to the production, as she had committed to the project months earlier and agreed on filming dates, though she withdrew before officially signing her contract.
A source told The Sun on Sunday that Keegan was eager to take on the complex role, but felt the intense hours were not compatible with her family life.
"Michelle was really keen to take on the meaty role, but the heavy filming schedule would take her away from daughter Palma for too long," the insider claimed.
"The hours were quite intense and the project was starting straight after her Netflix drama The Woods and she just couldn't commit."
The source added: "She is dedicated to her acting career, but like all working mums has to prioritise being there for her family, juggling work, parenting and being present for Palma."
Family speculation
Wright first found fame as an original cast member on the ITV reality series The Only Way is Essex, before building a successful career as a television and radio presenter. The couple married in a star-studded ceremony in 2015.
However, Keegan has previously spoken about the intense public scrutiny she and Wright faced regarding their family plans, having waited a decade after their wedding to have a child.
In an interview with Grazia magazine last year, the actress discussed the pressure of the constant media speculation.
"Around the time we got married, I was open about the fact that I wanted to have a family," she told the publication. "But then because we didn't choose to have children within a certain time, there was lots of speculation."
She explained that the relentless attention prompted her to stop discussing her private life in public, as the stories were leading to invasive questions from her own relatives.
"And we can handle that but, at one point, there was a story every week. My family was asking me about it, so I made the decision to not talk publicly about that side of my life," she said.
Reflecting on her approach to fame, Keegan added: "I'm going to be 38 this year and, as I've got older, I feel more confident about my boundaries."
