Michelle Keegan enjoyed a romantic weekend getaway to Paris with husband Mark Wright after he surprised her with Celine Dion concert tickets.
The actress, 39, revealed on social media that she had been dropping subtle hints for months about the Canadian pop star performing in the French capital.
Her husband, television presenter Mark Wright, 39, arranged the trip over the weekend, allowing the couple to enjoy a temporary break from parenting duties.
Keegan, known for her television roles in Coronation Street, Our Girl and Fool Me Once, shared photos of the trip with her followers on Instagram on Tuesday.
She captioned her post: "Turns out dropping subtle hints for months really does work… Celine Dion in Paris … magic."
During the luxury getaway, the couple took time out from their normal routines to enjoy cocktails, eat caviar and take in the sights across Paris.
The star cut a glamorous figure at the renowned French restaurant Lapérouse, located along the River Seine, wearing a black cut-out satin dress from her fashion collection with online retailer Very.
In another photo shared from the break, Keegan posed for a mirror selfie wearing a chic white top.
Romantic break in Paris
The couple's trip to France coincided with Paris Fashion Week, the semi-annual clothing showcase held across the French capital.
Keegan and Wright share an 18-month-old daughter, Palma, and took advantage of the weekend off to spend quality time together.
Keegan married former reality television personality Wright in 2015, and the pair frequently share updates from their personal lives and joint holidays.
Celine Dion comeback residency
Dion is currently performing a comeback residency in Paris after a severe health battle forced her away from the stage.
The Canadian vocal powerhouse, famed for hit songs including My Heart Will Go On, was forced to cancel her scheduled tour in 2023 following a medical diagnosis.
Dion revealed in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological condition causing muscle stiffness and painful spasms.
At its worst, the debilitating illness left Dion unable to walk properly or use her singing voice as she once had.
In 2024, Dion vowed to fans: "I’ll sing again."
She opened her first comeback performance in Paris with her song "On ne change pas" before addressing the emotional audience.
Speaking to the crowd after her opening track, Dion said: "I had promised myself not to cry. Here we are… I'm standing on stage in this city that I love so much, thanks to your support and your love."
She added: "I have to admit, though, that the road was rocky. The journey was longer than expected, with unplanned stops along the way. But I hung in there. A faint ray of light in the distance, deep in the mountains. I believed in it. And here it is. The sun - the sun is here. The sun, right in front of me."
Lifelong fandom and Las Vegas concert
Keegan is a long-standing admirer of Dion, having followed the Canadian artist's music since childhood.
The actress previously travelled to Las Vegas in 2019 to watch Dion perform live in concert, enjoying a fancy meal with Wright before heading to the stadium.
Reflecting on that trip in 2019, Keegan expressed her lifelong devotion to the singer in a social media message to fans.
Keegan wrote: "I’ve been a fan of this woman for most of my life. I remember every road trip I had with my mum when I was little she used to play her songs and explain to me what the lyrics meant."
She continued: "She’d then turn the volume up so loud the windows used to vibrate. I grew up learning her songs inside out. I finally got to see her live in @vegas she was incredible, I cried, I screamed, I fangirled. It was one of those nights I’ll never forget. @celinedion...I knew my long skinny finger would come in handy one day (the video)."
Juggling career and motherhood
The Paris break comes shortly after Keegan spoke candidly about the challenges of balancing a demanding television acting career with motherhood.
In a new interview with Grazia magazine earlier this month, the actress admitted that juggling her work schedule alongside raising her daughter is "tough."
Keegan confessed she "went in blinded" when accepting her starring role in the ITV crime drama series The Blame prior to Palma's birth.
She plays Detective Inspector Emma Crane in the drama series produced for ITV, the British commercial television network.
Keegan admitted she did not realise how hard it would be to adjust to working full-time as an actress while fulfilling her duties as a mother.
Speaking to Grazia, Keegan said: "Listen, I think I went in blinded. Obviously I agreed to the role before I had Palma, because I was so excited by it. I think you just believe that you're going to be fine. And of course I can do it, loads of women work full-time and are a mum. But it is hard. It's really hard."
She described the intense routine of balancing long days on set with caring for her baby at home.
Keegan said: "I had long days and had to go home and learn a lot of lines for the next day and be fresh, but still look after the baby at night when she was up. Luckily Mark [Wright, her husband]'s brilliant, he's a great partner and he's such a good dad as well."
She credited her extended family for providing crucial support during busy filming schedules.
Keegan added: "Thank God I've got the support system with Mark, and his family and my family have been brilliant as well. But I'm not going to lie. It's tough… I'm absolutely shattered."
