The CBF confirms that Brazil will have an interim coach on March 25 in Tangier

The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed this Wednesday the first friendly of the selection in 2023. Brazil will face Moroccosemifinalist of Qatar World Cupon March 25, at the Ibn Batouta stadium in Tangier, a city located in the north of the African country.

South American Under 20 champion last Sunday, Ramón Menezes he will lead Brazil in this match. The option for an interim player is due to the impossibility of the CBF to go ahead with the negotiations with Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid. This is because the Spanish team is in the midst of the knockout stages of the Champions League and in the fight for the Spanish title.

Although no one at the body admits it publicly, the Italian is the main target to lead the national team. “All these names, which many of you put in – there were almost 30, I counted – definitely names (wanted) of the CBF are there,” said the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.

However, the manager let it slip that he was looking for a coach currently in service – which does not happen with Zidane and Luis Enrique, for example, also mentioned by the European press as possible coaches of Brazil.

The CBF has opted for a single match in the first FIFA date of 2023, but with a high competitive level. Morocco enjoyed some good football at the World Cup in Qatar, knocking off favorites Spain and Portugal to claim fourth place.

“This is the beginning of a new cycle for Brazilian football. And the CBF kicks off with our selection entering the field against a strong opponent, which is Morocco, who reached the semi-finals of the World Cup last year in Qatar It will be a good test and, surely, a match that will arouse the interest of the Brazilian fans,” Ednaldo analysed.

Ibn Batouta Stadium was opened in April 2011 and has a capacity of 65,000. It hosted matches in the Club World Cup which ended last Saturday, with Real Madrid winning the title and Flamengo finishing third. The Brazilian team was eliminated in the semifinal stage of the confrontation between Brazil and Morocco.
