‘Shazam! The fury of the gods’: So are the two post-credit scenes of the film

Don’t go, you still have to see a couple more scenes!

As part of what is seen in superhero movies ‘Shazam! The Fury of the Gods’ features two scenes in the credits that would serve to give us an idea of future projects. However, the second part of the film released in 2019 comes a few months after James Gunn and Peter Safran gained full control of DC Studios. While we still don’t know where Zachary Levi’s starring movie fits into the new DCU, the question remains whether ‘The Fury of Gods’ would get a sequel. And well, those two post-credit scenes tell us something that uncomfortably place the film in a cinematic universe that could soon be erased.

The film introduces us to the new adventures of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and his adoptive family against the Daughters of Atlas (Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler) a trio of sisters who want to fully restore their powers, restore their kingdom and eliminate some humans along the way.

After the two hours of footage, DC fans will want to stay in theaters if they want to see the secrets that David F. Sandberg has hidden in the credits of the second part.. These sneak peeks not only hint at where Billy Batson/Shazam might be next in the DCU, but also set up who he might fight in his next story.

The first extra scene comes to the middle of the credits. The second scene begins after the credits, setting up for the possibility of ‘Shazam 3!’ and tie the dots with the first film. Let’s discuss them:

          Alliance with other heroes?

The sequence opens with ‘Peacemaker’ agent Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (Steve Agee) walking towards a meeting with a potential new recruit. That recruit is none other than Shazam (Levi), who’s at an abandoned gas station, shooting bottles and cans with his lightning powers and goofing around. They’ve both sought out Billy/Shazam with a clear intention: to go ask him if he’d like to join a superhero group… and before she can say the full name of the group, Billy excitedly interrupts and accepts, excited. at the prospect of joining the Justice League, looking forward to spending more time with Wonder Woman, the woman who drives him crazy (as seen in the movie). But then Harcourt and Economos point out that they were trying to say the Justice Society of America, and Billy criticizes the name, saying it’s confusing to have two teams that start with “Justice.” So our most irreverent superhero is about to launch new name ideas. At the end one even sounds called “Avengers Society” (wink wink at the marvelitas), assuring that he likes the sound. He continues talking as Harcourt and Economos walk away.

It’s not clear to us if this scene was always part of ‘The Fury of Gods’, or if it was added after Gunn entered the DCU.. It seems at the moment that it is possible that we could see Levi’s Shazam in whatever Gunn and Safran are preparing. The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director has previously stated that he would like to retain Levi for the future., so it could be one of the few holdovers from the last DCEU movies we’ve seen that stays in this new era. A third Shazam? Entry into the Justice Society? Any story related to ‘The Peacemaker’? We will see.

          The return of Dr. Sivana

If you stay until the end of the credits you will see the return of a character we met in the film released in 2019. We are talking about Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong), who is behind bars in the present. The walls of his cell are now covered in hieroglyphics and an image of Shazam being killed. Once again, Sivana is visited by Mr. Mind, a worm who can talk. Sivana yells at him asking why he is taking so long and that he wants to get out of this cell. The worm says that he “needs to do something else” for his plan to work and crawls away, understandably making Sivana even more upset.

Again, it’s hard to know what the implications will be for this scene in the future, since the DCU has, as we already know, a few changes. Also, Mr. Mind/Sivana’s plans could easily be inserted into any future DC plans pretty easily.

          shazam fury of the gods

While the two credits scenes offer an exciting future for fans of the character, we have to wait and see what Gunn and Safran’s decisions dictate.. Also, in June we will see ‘Flash’ in theaters and, as seen in the trailer, it will reset the timeline, change the Multiverse and give Gunn and Safran the perfect excuse to save some cast members and characters from the movie. DCEU while ditching everything else.

Also, let’s remember, another point to take into account so that we see Shazam again: the box office. If it goes well in theaters, we can continue to count on Levi in the new DCU. For now, both end credits scenes are nothing more than humorous additions to his story.

‘Shazam! The Fury of the Gods is from this Friday in theaters.
