Academy Award winner Daniels will direct episode of Skeleton Crew, Star Wars series

Directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as “the Daniels”, will direct an episode of Skeleton crew, new series in the Star Wars universe. The saga will be on Disney+ and should premiere later this year. The duo joins actor Jude Law, who stars in the production, and showrunners Jon Watts, from Spider-Man: Never go homeand Christopher Ford.

The directors’ announcement about the Disney+ series comes after the pair won 11 Academy Awards for All everywhere at the same timeincluding Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

Prior to the success of the film A24, the Daniels directed Swiss army man and worked in TV.

Furthermore Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and other television work, the Daniels have an exclusive five-year deal with Universal, and their next film will be an original film.

Skeleton Crew and the Star Wars universe

Skeleton crew is slated for a late 2023 release and is described as “the story of four young people lost in the galaxy, trying to find their way home.” Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, from The Mandalorianwill be the executive producer of the new Star Wars series.

Production will occur in the same time frame as other series in the universe on Disney+, during the New Republic. After Daniels’ participation was confirmed, Kwan took to Instagram Stories to celebrate.

We love Jon (Watts), we love Star Wars, we love learning about new technology, we love meeting new teams and launchand we needed those days to maintain our health (!!!), so it was an easy yes.
