‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ screenwriter Peter Murrieta has confirmed an old fan theory about Selena Gomez’s character Alex Russo.

Speaking in Wizards of Waverly Pod, Murrieta revealed that the theories about Alex’s sexuality, and his apparent chemistry with Stevie Nichols (played by Hayley Kiyoko) were truebut it was something that the directors did not explore in the teen fantasy series.

I wish we would have played more with what was pretty obvious to many of us: the relationship between stevie and alex“, He said.

“We couldn’t do it at the time, but we were all pretty clear about what that relationship was. it would have been fun“.

Then he went on to say: “Disney Channel has had characters [LGBTQ+]. We got as close as we could. Very close. More or less“.

The presenters, Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise (who played Harper Finkle and Jerry Russo in the series, respectively), agreed with Murrieta’s statementsadding that the series came “a bit early” when it came to depicting an LGBTQ+ relationship.

If it had been a few years later, maybe we could have played with that.“Stone stated.

Originally broadcast from 2007 to 2012, “Wizards of Waverly Place” followed Alex Russo, Gomez’s teenage witch, and her family as they try to hide their magical powers from the world.

Gomez, who currently stars in the hit series ‘Only Murders in the Building’ (which is already preparing its third season), recently announced that she was taking a break from social media, after fans revived the alleged drama between her, Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber.

I am very happy. I have the best friends, the best fans in the world. I just couldn’t be happier“, declared during a TikTok live.

“I don’t mind [el número de seguidores]. I don’t care, I love who I am, and yes, I’m going to take a break from social media because this is kind of silly. I’m 30 years old and I’m too old for this“.
