Poliana had to sell her clothes to eat, until she decided to undertake; in 2022 alone, she earned more than R $ 10 million
Today, an entrepreneur in the beauty industry and owner of a net worth of approximately R$50 million, Poliana Sicchieri has not always lived this reality. From a poor family, she even sold her clothes to get money to eat and even dropped out of school to work.
His life changed when he had an innovative idea: to create his own patented wax. Up until this turning point, however, Poliana had to come up with survival strategies and overcome the difficulties that arose.
“I come from a very poor family and when I was about 16 I left home to live with my boyfriend in Batatais [SP]but it was very challenging living alone,” she said Earth.
At the time, Poliana worked as a waitress and earned only R $ 160, a job she only got when she said she lived in Ribeirão Preto, a town near the municipality of Batatais.
“I had to lie to get the vacancy, but they only paid me the urban transport voucher, so I still had to spend my money to move from Batatais to Ribeirão. Month,” she recalls.
Since in the last days of the month there was no more money, not even for food, Poliana then began to sell her clothes in a second-hand shop. That way, she had enough money to cover one meal a day, until her next salary was due.

“But then the worst happened, I was fired. I was 17 at the time and my mother had a friend who was a hairdresser. She told me to take a chance in this industry and took me to this friend’s salon, which was called Cidis. But it was bankrupt, it had no customers to serve”, says the entrepreneur.
At the time, still having the guarantee of three months of layoffs and already having a course in the field of beauty, her mother advised her to work for free to gain experience. After that time, her mother promised to help her start a business.
So, she started living with Cidis, who was to become her husband, and started gaining experience. From then on, she set out to help him regain the fame and clients she had lost.
“I dropped out of school, it didn’t make sense for me to waste four hours of my life, when I could have been writing letters to send and capture clients. I flyered every day. Some people even showed up, but nothing that helped us at the time ”he recalled.
The situation was so difficult that the power to the salon was cut off during a service and Poliana was prevented from finishing the service. From this embarrassment arose the need to invest in something to change one’s life. The choice took into account the preferences of the public.
“We realized that a very popular service in the beauty industry was waxing, but the waxes they had on the market weren’t that good for the skin and we wanted to create something that was great for our clients’ skin. That’s when we had that feeling like ‘this is our chance to change our lives,'” she adds.
“When we are on the poverty line, we think that the enterprise is impossible, so the message I leave is: don’t give up and take one step at a time”, Poliana Sicchieri, entrepreneur and creator of Cera Marroquina
The creation of wax
Poliana and Cidis, her late husband, started making their own wax, on the stove at home. In addition to the product, which later took the name of Moroccan Wax, the couple created a methodology to serve their customers, with the aim of ensuring comfort and safety for women.
Within three months Poliana’s schedule was full and the two had to hire employees to meet the demand.
“We went from 200 clients to 5,000 in five years. We started giving opportunities to poor girls, who also started changing their lives. So, it’s been really nice to have an impact on these people as well,” comments Poliana.
It was from the creation of her wax, patented, exclusive in Brazil and made with herbal products that promise to relieve pain by up to 80%, that Poliana managed to achieve R$ 1 million in sales in the first few years she entered in this universe.
“I didn’t even know what R$ 1 million meant because I didn’t even have the money to eat, but then my life started to change,” she points out.
Moroccan wax that conquers the world
Currently, in addition to having two beauty salons and helping other epilators to gain prosperity and financial independence, the entrepreneur is also betting on the export of her product. Since 2015, Poliana has been expanding her client list.
“We accelerated growth in 2022. Today Moroccan Wax is present in Europe, Turkey, Japan and the United States, representing 6.5% of gross sales, totaling approximately BRL 600,000 annually,” they celebrate.
The company’s annual turnover reaches R$10 million and Poliana expects to increase this figure by 20%. For exports, the forecast is to grow by 10%.
“Today we have 15,000 licensees in Brazil using our product. We already have more than 200 licensees in other countries and we have an importer in Orlando. , the message I leave is: don’t give up and take one step at a time. You can start from where you are, with what you have and it can work, even if it’s not easy!”, he adds.
