It’s another successful bet for Netflix with L’amour en tourist, a romantic comedy that took second place among the most watched movies of the week in just a few days and without any promotion.
Subscribers probably fell in love with the two actors – Rachael Lee Cook and Scott Lee – and the filming. The first follows Amanda, a tour operator visiting Vietnam for work. He meets a free-spirited local guide who introduces him to the beauty of life and adventure.
And like its hero, who during his stay explores the land of the dragon, the audience will also be visited by the beauty of Vietnam, among its ancient temples, colorful markets, its atypical small streets and traditions. Love as a Tourist is a real travel brochure and will make you want to discover the country with your own eyes.
The film’s screenwriter, Eirene Tran Donohue, was inspired by her own story. Like his protagonist, he suffered a difficult breakup before traveling to Vietnam, where he had a pivotal encounter that challenged everything in his life. But it was an opportunity for a young woman to honor her country of origin:
“There is almost no American film in Asia that does not deal with the trauma of war. It was important for me to say how it is going now. A story that speaks of joy, love and celebration. I wanted to show another side of Vietnam and present it as a modern country“, he explains of this interview.
Three days after its release on Netflix, Love as a Tourist is currently holding an average rating of 2.6/5 (out of 21 ratings). Viewers celebrate “Beautiful pictures of Vietnam Take the audience for a ride“(Lyah) and the acting of the actors – including one”Scott Lee is very enjoyable to watch” (Sescapil).
