In parallel with his work as a general practitioner, Thomas Lilt continues to work as a director and screenwriter. In 2014, Hippocrates, his second feature film, introduced him to the wider public, with the story of a young intern at a hospital.

After a year and a half, Thomas Lilt returns behind the camera with Médecin De Campagne, this time inspired by his memories as a substitute in the countryside during his medical internship.

Thus, the film tells the daily life of Jean-Pierre, a village doctor who lives only for his work, who is forced to slow down his work to treat lung cancer and a brain tumor. He is then sent to help Dr. Natalie Delezia, whose arrival he does not appreciate.

CorrespondsHippocrates, country doctor It evokes themes of illness, rural medical practice, solidarity, medical wilderness and transmission in a realistic and humanistic way.

As a poignant tribute to these “ordinary heroes”, the film also benefits from excellent performances by its two main actors: François Clues (nominated for a César for Best Actor for his performance) and Marianne Denicur.

After 1.5 million French people moved when it was released in cinemas, country doctor deserves your full attention tonight on France 2.
