Among the releases offered by Netflix last week was Tin and Tina, a Spanish film based on Rubin Stein’s 2013 short film of the same name.
Starring Milena Smith (The Little Girl Under the Snow) and Jaime Laurent (Denver de la Casa de Papel), this harrowing thriller follows a couple who welcome 7-year-old twins after learning they can’t have children. The latter grew up in a monastery, where they received a strict religious education.
With their pale looks and strange looks, we quickly understand that these two kids are up to something fishy. Mom, Lola, is quick to take care of her two little blonde heads…over and over.
If the story of the evil twins is a very good starting point for creating a horror story, Tin and Tina did not win over Netflix subscribers at all. Even if the film is currently in second place behind Blood and Gold, the audience has not been swayed by the proposal, judging by the comments on the AlloCiné page.
“Unfortunately, we were bored by 80% of the movie and it really annoyed us, the husband’s reactions were incomprehensible. Nobody puts on the blues”(waiting)
“Boring, the children are there, the only thing is more or less successful, but the rest does not follow, the reactions are unclear or even do not make sense, and what to think of the ending, it is a borderline joke. Go your own way.” (Mrgame staff)
“I thought I was on April 1st. So where do we start… 1. It looks like a bad 90’s TV movie. 2. The characters are funny (special mention to 2 Cherubim). The actors could save the day… but where are the actors really? 3. You can imagine that I didn’t make it to the end…” (Lawrence B)
“A classic script that could have worked, but too many unbelievable and ridiculous scenes.” (Fab Uriac)
“In short, zero. No moment of fear. No moment of ecstasy. Not funny and mocking. Just boredom and frustration?” (Quentin Wasser)
“I liked the original theme with the evil twins, but the sequel is completely useless in terms of horror movies and lacks consistency. There are no horror scenes except for 2.3 odd moments. There are times in the film where we get little or nothing at all, leaving us in the dark. (Lucas)
“You shouldn’t watch it, it’s too bad. Unbelievably slow (I fell asleep). And played badly. A lame and smooth mother and two unbearable children with heads. Netflix, it’s time to invest in quality.” (Cedricm13)
“I hated my viewing session, 2 hours of endless movie, the actors are bad, the script could have been interesting, but it’s clearly a wet gun! The reactions of the characters are clearly incredible, everything is fake, ultra-telephone to the point of irritation! The ending sums up this feature film well, it’s hilarious. I love scary movies and horror movies, but this is GROTESQUE! escape!” (Lahutsin)
With a 1.9/5 rating, Tin and Tina joins a long list of Netflix Originals that won’t be remembered. Recall that to achieve its two daily top 10, the platform is based on the number of families who have started watching, not knowing whether they will go to the end…
