The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, will visit Rome next Thursday (8) and will meet the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the President Sergio Mattarella.
The trip was announced this Friday (2) by the deputy spokeswoman for the German government, Christiane Hoffmann. Meloni has already visited Berlin last February, in a meeting focused on energy security and the war in Ukraine.
In mid-May, the Italian prime minister and Scholz had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.
On the occasion, the two leaders also discussed the operation that will lead the German airline Lufthansa to purchase 41% of the Italian state-owned company ITA Airways for 325 million euros by the end of the year. .
