Zenit defender Robert Renan was called up this Monday (12/6) to defend the Brazilian national team in the friendlies against Guinea and Senegal on 17 and 20 June respectively. Thus, the 19-year-old replacing Fluminense’s injured Nino will join interim manager Ramon Menezes’ squad in Spain on Wednesday.
The defender, unveiled by Corinthians and present in Russian football since the beginning of this year, recently defended Brazil in the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina. Canarinho’s team, among other things, fell in the quarterfinals against the selection of Israel, after being defeated 3 to 2 in extra time.
This is Robert Renan’s second call-up to the main national team. After all, he was also part of the Brazilian squad in the friendly against Morocco in March. In addition, he participated in the South American U-20 title at the beginning of 2023.
In addition to the young defender, Ramon also has the experienced Marquinhos and Éder Militão, as well as Ibañez for the job.
Next Saturday, the Brazilian team will face Guinea at the Cornellà-El Prat Stadium, in Barcelona, Spain. Then, on Tuesday, the opponent will be Senegal, at the José Alvalade, in Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.
