Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed are undoubtedly the two flagship fantasy series of the late 90s.
The first, created by Joss Whedon (in particular, the director of the first two Avengers films), was broadcast in the United States from March 1997 to May 2003, and the second, created by Constance M. by Bourges and produced by Aaron Spellin (La Croisière). s ‘amuse, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie’s Angels) first appeared in American homes in October 1998 and will end in May 2006.
In France, both are broadcast on the M6 channel, notably on Saturday La Trilogie evenings.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer features a young girl from the town of Sunnydale, Buffy Summers, who has been chosen from a long line to fight demons and vampires. He is helped in this difficult task by a group of his friends, who together form the Scooby Gang, which originally consisted of Alex, Harris, Willow Rosenberg and Buffy’s protector, Rupert Giles.
A total of seven seasons and several memorable episodes, including “Un Silence de Mort” (S04E10), an almost silent episode from beginning to end, or “Let the Show Begin” (SO6E07), made in the style of a musical.
Charmed tells the story of the Halliwell sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe, who all become witches by inheriting the powers of their ancestors. Living together in a palace, they are united by the “Three Powers”, but each has its own power.
Piper can freeze and explode things, Phoebe can see the future, and in the next series, the past, and Prue can move objects thanks to her telekinetic abilities.
