The number of robberies and car thefts increased by 23% in May in Greater São Paulo; The Volkswagen Gol is the most targeted
According to a survey conducted by Ituran Brasil, a company specializing in vehicle tracking, based on data obtained from the Secretariat of Public Security of São Paulo, the number of thefts and robberies of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in the RMSP (Metropolitan Region of São Paulo ) was up 23% in May, compared to data from the same month last year.
Also according to the study, 6,869 cases of theft and robbery were registered in May and, similarly, in the first five months of the year there was a 5% increase in complaints, with 27,010 vehicles becoming the target of criminals.
Among the most targeted models, the Chevrolet Onix ceased to be the year’s leader, with attendance down 21.4% compared to the same period in 2022. The Volkswagen Gol instead became the bandits’ favorite , recording an advance of 5.8% on the same basis of comparison.
