Golden Globes: After breaking with NBC, awards have no network to broadcast

One of the main film awards is experiencing difficulties without a broadcaster

O Golden Globe faces problems with the transmission of its next edition, first scheduled for January 7, 2024, according to the PUCK,the award still does not have a broadcaster to be able to broadcast its event after breaking the contract with the NBC.

The organization managed by Dick Clark Productions refused the offer of a station, because the value was lower than that of the NBC (until March 2023). The broadcaster had already negotiated the event for a fraction of the licensing fee, $60 million.

The main streams, CBS, Fox, Netflix, Amazon, ABC/Disney+/Hulu, Apple TV+, TNT and Roku also refused to forward the Golden Globe due to the high value required by the Dick Clark Productions.

Since 2021, the Golden Globe “cancellations” have been received after some accusations and a report on dubious practices within the Association, in addition to not having a single black member among the 87 members of the organization. The Association was also accused of accepting gifts from candidates to be nominated for the award.

A Netflix would have gifted members of the organization with trips to Paris before the launch of “Emily in Paris”to receive two award nominations.

This year, 2023, the award marked its return to American television after all the corruption scandals, but in Brazil, the Golden Globe did not have an official broadcast, the TNT, channel that used to play the event this year did not.
