Sound of Freedom: producer distributes free tickets in Brazil; understand

Surrounded by controversies involving sex trafficking and politics, the film’s producer made free tickets available to Brazilians

Considered the most controversial film of the year, Freedom sound arrived in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday, September 21st, and immediately became the most watched film this weekend.

The film, seen by more than 240 thousand people, according to data from Comscore, is counting on the distribution of free tickets. On the independent producer’s website Angel Studiosyou can get a code to watch it without paying, getting two tickets per CPF.

According to the producer, this is possible thanks to payment from another, unspecified person. “An angel paid in advance so you can watch Freedom sound in cinemas for free”, informs the portal when sending the ticket code.

Shrouded in controversy, the production adapts the real story of Tim Ballarda former US government agent who abandoned his job to found the Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), a non-profit organization combating child sex trafficking.

Questioned by Estadãoregarding the free distribution of tickets, the distributor’s representatives Paris Filmsresponsible for showing the film in Brazil, says that the free tickets came from an idea from Angel Studios, as part of an action in which “people can buy tickets for others who cannot”, which is “the same promotional action that was carried out abroad”. On the film’s website, it is also possible to request a ticket at no cost “if it is not possible to pay the price”.

What is the story of “Sound of Freedom”?

Freedom sound is the film adaptation of the story of Tim Ballarda special agent for the North American government, responsible for arresting pedophiles for more than a decade, saving the lives of countless children, even though he never took any of them back to their homes.

Faced with this reality, Ballardplayed in the film by Jim Caviezel (Jesus Christ in The passion of christ2004), sees the possibility of changing the focus of his work and, on his first mission, he is successful and ends up recovering the small Miguel (Lucas Ávila), returning him to his father, Roberto (José Zúñiga, Twilight).

However, the sister of Miguel, Rocío (Cristal Aparicio), who was kidnapped with him, is still missing, which leads Ballarda Christian man, married and father of five children, to put himself in the place of Roberto and dedicate its next steps to rescuing the girl and many other children, victims of international sex trafficking.
