The most manic detective on the small screen is back. The Peacock platform last March announced the start of the film, which centers on Monk, Tony Shalhoub’s flawless character from 2002-2009. He just revealed the first photos and the release date for what will be Mr. Monk’s Last Thing. It will be available in the US from December 8.
In this special, Monk returns to solve one last case involving his beloved stepmother Molly, a journalist who is planning his wedding. Let us remind you that in the last episode of the series, the detective learned about the existence of the daughter of the murdered wife and decided to take her under his wing.
Apart from Shalhoub, many actors have agreed to return for this special event. Fans of the series will recognize in the first pictures his assistant, played by Traylor Howard (Natalia), investigators Jason Gray-Stanford (Randy Disher) and Ted Levine (Leland), his psychologist Dr. Neven, played by Hector Elizondo or even his wife, played by Melora Hardin. The latter died in the series, so this is likely a flashback or permanent memory.
While waiting for the trailer, these photos will not be missed by fans of Monk, which aired on TF1 in France. The showrunners have promised that the film will be faithful to the series “Rich, emotionally powerful, funny, comforting…it will be both familiar and surprising”.
At the moment, the French broadcaster has not been announced.
