The return of “Stranger Things” has officially become the season of the most viewed English language series in Netflix history. In just 17 days, the production’s seven new episodes reached over 781 million hours of streaming, far surpassing the second season of “Bridgerton”, which held the previous record with 656 million hours in 28 days.
Most impressive is that “Stranger Things” also stood out in the overall ranking, which includes productions in other languages. The fourth season of the series is now second only to the South Korean phenomenon “Round 6”, which produced 1.65 billion hours in its first 28 days on the air.
It is worth mentioning that the fourth season of “Stranger Things” is not over yet. Netflix has split the new episodes into two parts, with two chapters saved for July 1st.
It’s unclear how ratings will be counted for these last two episodes, as the company only counts the first 28 days of each season in their accounts, and the fourth year of the Duffer Brothers series was released on May 27.
