Netflix and HBO Max are teaming up with Verizon for a cheaper plan

Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery, owner of HBO Max, has partnered with Verizon, a voice and video solutions and services company, to offer a new version of ad-supported streaming plans. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company will have a combined package that will give access to the subscription level at an even cheaper price.

It is worth noting that Verizon also has an office in Brazil, in Sao Paulo. However, there is no information yet whether the new combined plan offered by the company through the partnership will be available here.

In 2019 the North American company also struck an agreement with Disney and gave customers of its unlimited plan 12 free months of Disney+, which had yet to be launched.

Netflix launched its ad-supported plan late last year and more recently raised prices on its premium ad-free tier. The changes in values were already expected, having been made known during the presentation of the company’s financial results.

In addition to the price increase, which reached the United States and parts of Europe, streaming canceled the basic ad-free plan in Brazil, leaving only the plans: standard with ads (R$ 18.90), standard without ads (R$ 39.90) and premium (R$55.90).

All measures, of course, are aimed at boosting subscriptions to other plans on the platform, such as “standard with ads” – a strategy that has worked well in other countries, as it encourages streaming advertising.
