“I’m quite afraid of playing there… I think, in most cases, for a band, it ends up becoming a visual spectacle instead of a true rock’n’roll show”, said the guitarist.
Slash ruled out the possibility that the Guns N’ Roses take your never-ending reunion tour to Spherein Las Vegas, saying the hip venue is “not rock’n’roll friendly.”
In an interview with the program Trunk Nationfrom the SiriusXMthe guitarist was asked about the band playing at Sphere. “I haven’t been yet [à Sphere]but everything I saw — or almost everything — looks incredible,” he said Slash (via Blabbermouth).
However, he added: “I’m quite wary of playing there, because… it’s a great visual show. I think, generally, for a band, it ends up becoming a visual spectacle rather than a real rock’n’roll show. So there’s that.”
Slash He also said that he spoke with Joe Walshwhose group, the Eaglescurrently has a residence in Sphereabout the experience of playing at the venue — and that Walsh told him that “it’s not exactly a rock’n’roll-friendly environment, the way it’s set up.”
“It’s one of those things that looks really cool, and conceptually there’s a lot of interesting things you can do, but I don’t think it’s the right environment for a real rock’n’roll show,” he added.
In early 2025, Metallica even spoke openly about the possibility of touching the Sphere. “I would also be interested in seeing that,” he said. Slash. “I can imagine them doing it… But you have to mentally prepare yourself to not just do a band performance — because 50% of what you’re going to be presenting will be the projection, or whatever you call it — the external images, the content displayed on the walls.”
Despite caution, Slash did not completely rule out the idea of Guns N’ Roses occupy the Sphere at some point. “These visual elements become the main focus of the show, what everyone will be looking at,” he told Trunk Nation. “So you need to get into that mindset, and I think it’s difficult for us to adapt that much. But we’ll see. Maybe in the future.”
Earlier this month, Sphere announced that the reunited band No Doubt will be the next attraction to perform at the venue, with 12 shows scheduled for May 2026.
