Novorizontino beats Londrina and survives in the fight for access

This Friday (17th), Novorizontino beat Londrina 1-0, in the penultimate round of Serie B, thus still having a chance to access next year’s Serie A. With this result, the San Paolo team reaches 60 points, in fifth place, having to support their direct opponents (Atlético-GO, Juventude and Criciúma) to reach the final stage alive.

At the Estádio do Café, already relegated Londrina started with a scare, with Novorizontino putting a ball against the crossbar after just two minutes, through Felipe Marques. Later it was Marlon’s turn to shoot from distance, Neneca touched it and the ball hit the post again. Rodolfo and Adriano also came close to scoring, but it was Felipe Marques who missed the goal, shooting over the goalkeeper.

In the second half Novorizontino’s pressure continues and wastes several opportunities, but Londrina also arrives when Iago strikes and Georgemy makes a good save. Until, in the 24th minute, Marlon throws to Aylon, who comes close to Neneca’s exit and makes it 1-0 for the Sao Paulo team.

To continue with their chances of promotion, Novorizontino must ‘dry’ Atlético-GO, who visit Mirassol, as well as hoping for defeats against Juventude (at Ponte) and Criciúma (at Botafogo-SP), who play at home this Saturday. In the last round, the team from Sao Paulo faces the team from Santa Catarina, in a direct clash.
