Julien Dore: Is it difficult to sing unconsciously? The Panda hero tells us behind the scenes of the karaoke episode

Warning, this article contains spoilers for the Panda series. If you don’t want to understand anything, don’t read the following!

Last Thursday, TF1 launched Panda, its new series with Julien Doré and Ophelia Kolb, to great fanfare. A successful bet for the channel as this cop comedy attracted over 6.4 million viewers on 30 November.

Tonight, TF1 will broadcast two new episodes of Panda, including an investigation that takes place in a karaoke bar. Julien Dore and Maxen Laperrauze are both singers, the writers obviously didn’t get the chance to sing the song.

If Maxence Laperaus, Stan’s interpreter, covers the song with strong emotion happy man By William Scheler, Julien Doré was entrusted with the difficult task of translation Midnight Demons1986 hit from the band Images.

And if the audience expected to see her sing this French pop classic perfectly, they’ll be in for a surprise when they hear her sing it perfectly. The choice of scenario is far from trivial.

“We wanted to play with the audience”

One thing that was clear with Julien Dore from the beginning was that he didn’t want to sing and he didn’t want to take care of the music for the series.“- Panda screenwriters Thomas Mansuy and Mathieu LeBlanc told us in an interview a few days ago.

Although their first idea was not to blackmail Julien Dore, they eventually “He wanted to play with the audience“.

They explain to us: “The desire was to create high expectations. And when he takes the mic, it’s clear that we’re not going to expect anything from Julien at all. On the other hand, Maxence Laperause, who is also a singer, told us that we were going to use something much more unexpected. We wanted something very beautiful“.

Although the writers and actors had a lot of fun with these scenes, Julien Dore had to “learn” the song out of sequence for the needs of the series. But is that hard to do when you’re a singer?

“I should have sung badly and wrongly”

Julien Dore, who met a few days ago during an interview, spoke to Allocine about this episode as another: “We both had to sing in this episode. I think it was just as stressful for Maxens as it was for me“, he told us.

As for false notes in this scene, the exercise turned out not to be as simple as one might imagine.

My character doesn’t know the song at all, but it turns out that he has to do some research and look around a bit. It was very strange because I had to sing badly and awkwardly.

Some would say it’s not that hard for me, but know that I ******* you. And for others like me, yes, it’s not easy to sing a little bad.

It’s a performance we won’t soon forget!
