As we eventually learn from the show’s grown-up narrator, he and his wife Amy (Mayim Bialik) have named their son… Leonard! And the main character explains why: it is, of course, a tribute to Star Trek hero Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock), whose biggest fan Sheldon is, but also to his best friend, Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki).
