Look at the latest work of Thiago Carpini, the target of the new Santos board

Thiago Carpini is one of the favorite names on Santos’ new board of directors to take charge of professional football from January 2024. The coach caught the attention of president Marcelo Teixeira after having a successful season in 2023.

The 39-year-old commander began the year in charge of Água Santa and surprised many with a successful campaign in the Campeonato Paulista. Diadema’s team overcame several giants and finished second. In the final, the team lost to Palmeiras.

There were 14 matches, with six wins, four draws and four defeats, generating a success rate of 52.3%.

The good performance brings Carpini to Juventude. He took over the Rio Grande do Sul club in the sixth round of the Serie B of the Brazilian championship. The team was in the relegation zone.

Since the coach’s debut, however, Papo has gained momentum becoming the team that scored the most points in the entire Second Division. Under his command there were 17 wins, 11 draws and only four defeats in 32 matches, a success rate of 64% in the period.

One of the pillars of change at Juventude has been defensive solidity. Goalkeeper Thiago Couto was not missing in more than half of the matches played. There were 17 in total clean sheetswith 24 goals conceded in 32 rounds.

The club thus finished Serie B in second place and, as a result, rose into the elite of Brazilian football.

Now, therefore, Carpini has attracted the interest of Santos, who are trying to get back on their feet after being relegated to the Second Division. In 2024, Peixe will only compete in the State and Serie B.

During his career, the coach also played for Guarani, Oeste, Inter de Limeira, Santo André and Ferroviária.
