In time for the last holiday of the year, Joker director Todd Phillips has released two new photos from Folie à deux, the long-awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster. The director posted two photos of the film on his Instagram account. Accompanied by the following comment: “Wishing you all a very happy holiday and a wonderful new year.”
In the first photo, we see Joaquin Phoenix dressed as the Joker in his iconic costume. Lady Gaga, aka Harley Quinn, looks on in awe and love. As for the second photo, it shows the Clown Prince of Crime locked in his cell at Arkham Asylum.
We see his face through a small window of the castle. The Joker seems completely consumed by hatred, his head down, his eyes glazed over. While waiting for the first trailer for this sequel, fans have reason to be very excited about these images; The latter offers us a work corresponding to the first episode on an aesthetic level.
Joker: Folie à deux will hit theaters on October 2, 2024, five years after the first installment grossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It also earned Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for Best Actor for his mind-blowing performance as Batman’s worst enemy.
