Timão had an agreement with the steering wheel staff, but failed to define the business model with Rubro-Negro
Midfielder Thiago Maia will not strengthen Corinthians. Timão had agreed salary terms with the Flamengo player, who he will sign until 2027, but the boards of directors did not reach an agreement on the business model. The information was given by Corinthian identity and confirmed by Throw away!.
The Rio club would only release Thiago Maia in an exchange with Fausto Vera, highly appreciated by coach Tite. However, Corinthians has to settle a dispute with Argentinos Juniors, worth around $4 million (R$19.68 million, at current prices).
Matheuzinho would also be another piece on the board. Flamengo is willing to deal with the right-back, who is of interest to Corinthians. However, the athlete gives priority to the transfer to European football.
The soap opera involving Gabigol also affected the negotiation for Thiago Maia. After assessing that he had done everything possible for the center forward, Timão was annoyed by Flamengo’s lack of definition and gave up on signing the number 10. The Corinthians board does not want to damage Mano Menezes, who will return to the squad on Sunday (7) , and should accelerate the search for new reinforcements in the market.
Corinthians have already announced three players for 2024: Diego Palacios, Raniele and Rodrigo Garro. In addition to the trio, Timão signed left-back Hugo, signed from Duílio Monteiro Alves, and defender Félix Torres, from Santos Laguna.
