Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has a new image; I wait

Fans of kaijus, the Japanese term for giant monsters, just received a gift from the magazine Empire.

A month and a half after the premiere of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” the publication has released a new photo and interview with the film’s director, Adam Wingard (“Death Note”).

The image brings the two monsters together in what appears to be a desert.

In the film, the two kaiju face a new threat, hidden in the depths of our world. It will be the debut of the villain Skar King, a gigantic orangutan, in the so-called Monsterverse. The film also promises to explore the origins of the Titans and the mysteries of Skull Island.

The cast of Godzilla and Kong includes the return of actors Brian Tyree Henry (“Bullet Train”), who will reprise his role as Bernie Hayes, and Rebecca Hall (“Vicky Cristina Barcelona”) in the role of Doctor Ilene Andrews. Dan Stevens (“The Guest”) will play the protagonist Tracker, a new expert on these gigantic beings.

An… awkward couple?

The film is the sequel to “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021). According to director Adam Wingard we will see a sort of truce between the two kaijus. They are definitely not friends, but they must unite to face a great threat.

At Empire, the director cited a curious inspiration for the relationship between the two titans. According to him, the dynamic between them was based on crime comedies of the ’80s and ’90s, such as “Lethal Weapon.”

“There are many misunderstandings: the way monsters communicate is not simple. The dysfunctional buddy-cop relationship dynamic is probably the best way to describe Godzilla and Kong.”said the director.

We’ll have less monster fighting and more… comedy? It’s wait and see.

“Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire” will be released in Brazilian cinemas on March 29.

The information comes from Omelette.
