At the end of the film, Elodie manages to escape the Dragon Tavern and rescue her sister, who has also been kidnapped and thrown into a cave. In the final duel, the heroine saves the creature before convincing him to take revenge on Queen Isabella for his many lies.
In the kingdom, a new wedding ceremony organized by the royal family. Elodi interrupts the celebration and orders her future husband – and victim – to flee. Just then, the dragon comes in to kill and burn the entire royal family and the castle, which eventually collapses.
A new family
As Elodie sets off on a boat with her family, she exchanges a familiar glance with a dragon that seems to follow them to their new destination. The ending, quite open, seems to set the stage for the second part, but what exactly is it?
At this time, no follow-up has been announced. Netflix is primarily waiting for public feedback and first numbers before launching, but the film’s director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, has indicated that he is ready for it. Inside Total Film Podcast :
“True, the world of Lady and the Dragon is quite open. Especially since, as you know, there is a new family. There is this new member in the story, I don’t have to say more, but I invite you to think that they have new adventures ahead of them. So, obviously, if that happens, I’d love to do it, of course.”
The Lady and the Dragon is available on Netflix.
