“Teddy Werewolf” Ludovic and Zoran Bucher are changing creatures for “The Year of the Shark”. The feature film, which is expected to hit our theaters on August 3, is revealed through its trailer.
Thanks to Ted, 2021 was a werewolf year for Ludovic and Zoran Bucherma. 2022 is the year of the shark for the two directors, whose new film will hit our theaters on August 3. And that’s revealed today thanks to a sunny trailer that sets the tone.
If the registry changes, the style of the directors does not change. Still determined to make a genre film in the southwest of France, they landed a giant shark at Pointe du Cap Ferret in the Arcachon Basin. But the latter runs into trouble with Maja (Marina Fois), a stubborn marine policeman who is willing to postpone retirement for a few days to kill a shark.
As in Teddy, the accents are melodious, the sun goes down, and amateur actors mingle with professionals: here Marina Fois, Kad Meradi and Jean-Pascal Zad, who surround Christine Gaultier, already on the poster of their previous film.
Any resemblance to Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is obviously no accident, and these images show that Ludovic and Zoran Bucher are going to get away with it as well as a primary influence on their third feature film, after Willy 1 (signed by Hugo P. Thomas and Mariel Gauthier) and Ted.
We don’t know yet if they will need a bigger boat to pursue their ambitions, which is rare in French cinema. But we’ll definitely be interested to see what other 7th Art Holy Monsters will attack next if they stay this way.
