prison Break

A pleasant surprise, which the audience is invited to discover in the cinema from May 8. First presented at the 27th edition of the Alpe d’Huez Festival last January, Ney-Poissy won the hearts of the public with laughter and tears. Directed by Gregory Butbul, who wrote the scripts for Friends of the Community, 30 Days Max and Andy, this comedy immerses us in Daniel’s story.

Best played by Max Bublil, this self-made man, owner of a successful restaurant chain, sees his dream life turn into a nightmare when he finds himself in prison. The world of the prison, which was close to the heart of the filmmaker, who was obsessed with films of this genre, but this time wanted to infuse it with comedy.

Starting with the pure tradition of comic feature films, with sharp lines and distinctive and attractive characters, Neill-Pois Finds its strength in the way of dealing with sensitive issues and topics. With a fresh and delicate take on this very sensitive subject, the film unfolds as an ode to brotherhood and sharing, and allows us to hope and even glimpse interfaith reconciliation.

Still, a challenge that is very difficult, especially given current events. “It took me several years to write. It is very disturbing that it was before and after October 7, 2023Grigor Butbul recalls. People who have already seen the film tell us it does them good, bringing a little perspective and humor to this climate of communal tension. Everyone gets what they deserve, there is no preferential treatment, and ultimately the notion of brotherhood dominates…

Beyond the subtlety of the writing and the singularity of tone, Ney-Pois stands out for his intelligent casting. Opposite Max Bublil, we find Steve Thientcheu and Malik Amraoui lighting up the screen, as well as Melanie Bernier, Claudia Tagbo, Gerard Darmon and Gerard Juno.
