New waves are rolling in Biarritz

From the 18th to the 23rd of June, the idyllic and sunny surroundings of Biarritz will host the second edition of the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES. As its name suggests, this festival aims to highlight youth, their stories, their hopes and their power.

Last year’s Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES allowed festival-goers to preview films such as A Difficult Year, How to Have Sex, Reality, Marguerite’s Theorem and Super Burress, but also to meet Penelope Cruz, Cédric Klapisch and this couple. Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache. After the success of the first edition, the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES returns, with a selection more eclectic than ever.

A surprising and explosive choice

For this second edition, eight feature films will compete to be awarded the Best Film prize by an exceptional international jury chaired by Léa Missius (Ava, Les Cinq Diables) and composed of Zoe Deutsch (The Outfit), Vincent Lacoste (César for Best). Supporting Actor for Lost Illusions), Kim Higuelin (César nominee for female breakthrough Le Consentement), Margaret Zhang (director, photographer and writer), Manu Rios (A Strange Life), Kitty Chicha (Morrison) and Arash Khaxar (internationally acclaimed photographer).

In order to encourage youth access to culture and promote a new vision of cinema, the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES also consists of two other bodies: the Film School Student Jury and the Pass Culture Jury.

Kneecap, Rich Peppiatt (Ireland)

This selection of international, new films can be discovered from June 18 as part of the second edition of the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES.

Dazzling guests for a summer event

Bring your sunscreen, because the most outstanding talents of the international scene will also be in Biarritz. A chance to meet Pierre Nini, who will preview The Count of Monte Cristo on June 21 at 9pm, as well as Matt Dillon (Without), Alice Diop (Saint Omer), Alain Chabat (Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra), Alex Lutz (Guy), Wassily Schneider (Les Amandiers), costume designer Rosalie Varda… and many more!

The second edition of the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES will be held on June 18-23.
