Of the 14 defeats at the helm of the Saudi team, four have led to elimination; the club has set its sights on Stefano Pioli to replace the Argentine
Al Ittihad, Saudi Arabia, announced on Tuesday (2/7) on their social networks the dismissal of coach Marcelo Gallardo. Announced in November last year, he had a contract until June 2025. But the 48-year-old Argentine has never had peace at the Saudi club.
One of his missions when he replaced Nuno Espírito Santo was to try to calm the situation with Benzema, the main star of the club. But in December the player made another mistake, leaving Gallardo in trouble.
Gallardo’s trajectory has not been the best at the helm of Al Ittihad. There have been 16 wins, three draws and 14 losses. However, he has obtained five negative results in the last seven matches of the team.

Four of the stumbles, in fact, led to elimination. First in the autumn in the Club World Cup against Al Ahly. Then in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League against Al Hilal coached by Jorge Jesus, who also won in the final of the Saudi Super Cup and in the semi-final of the King’s Cup.
The team left the competition early to qualify for next season’s AFC. Gallardo therefore ends Al Ittihad’s season in sixth place in the Saudi championship, with 54 points.
This was only his third coaching job, the first after leaving River Plate, a club he led for nine seasons. That said, the coach is back on the market.
Stefano Pioli, 58, a former Italian player, has entered the Saudi club’s radar. The coach said goodbye to Milan at the end of the season and is currently without a club.
