Seabra agrees with Cruzeiro fans’ boos: ‘Frustrated’

The coach regrets Raposa’s defeat against Sao Paulo, this Sunday, in Mineirão, in the Brazilian championship

Cruzeiro lost to São Paulo 1-0 at the Mineirão, their first at the stadium this season. After the match, coach Fernando Seabra commented on the boos and insults during and at the end of the match.

“I have to be able to assimilate, respect and agree with the feelings of the fans. The team has not done well either collectively or individually. I am at the head of the process and I feel frustrated for not having provided better quality, I give the fans every reason in this sense,” he said in a press conference after the match.

One of the points that Seabra received criticism was when he removed Matheus Henrique from the game. The coach explained the change.

“Matheus Henrique asked to leave. He still managed to get through, because he was very tired, to make some good plays, but he asked to leave,” the coach said.

The coach, in fact, said that continuity of work is needed and that he hopes that with the preparation time the team can improve in various aspects.

“We have to continue working, analyze the performance, analyze the game, make corrections, both in collective and individual aspects, so that we can present a better quality of play, a more adequate game. So, this is what we have to do. We also expected that, with this time, we would improve in several aspects, but there is an opponent who has prepared well, who also has quality and has ended up putting us in difficulty”, he stressed.

In Praise of San Paolo

“The São Paulo team is very qualified, there would have been a disadvantage if they had repeated the team that played against Atlético Mineiro, a very big physical disadvantage, so their strategy was to field another whole team, so they probably didn’t just have these two days, it was something that was being prepared before, so these players were already trained and the game plan to play with us was already ready.”

What now?

Cruzeiro will be back on the field next Thursday (19), at 21:30 (Brasilia time), at the Defensores del Chaco stadium, in Asunción, Paraguay. The match will be the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana. Raposa will play again with the Brasileirão next Sunday (22), at 18:30. The sky blue team will visit Cuiabá, at the Arena Pantanal, for the 27th day of the national tournament.
