A more beautiful life: “Samuel will be torn between the search for justice and the love of Jennifer” confides Inaki Lartigue

Nothing goes well for Samuel (Inaki Lartigue) in Plus belle la vie, not even Plus Belle. The police have been investigating the suspicious disappearance of Yanis for several weeks. What he doesn’t know yet is that the man is dead and that Jennifer, his girlfriend, has something in common.

After Yanis is run over in their car in a panic, Luna, Barbara, Blanche and he bury the body in the woods. Since then, other friends have tried to cover their tracks in hopes of escaping the police. If at the moment Samuel has no idea about his partner’s involvement in Yanis’s disappearance, he still has a lot of doubts about his behavior.

At the La Rochelle Festival of Fantasy, AlloCiné spoke with Inaki Lartigue to discuss this investigation, which is full of twists and turns, but also the evolution of Samuel and Jennifer’s relationship.

AlloCiné: It’s been 8 months since you made your debut in Plus belle la vie, even plus belle. What do you make of these first months and the evolution of your character?

Inaki Lartig : My assessment is that it goes by very quickly. I feel like the first episode was yesterday (laughs). Either way, it’s a very positive outcome to everything that happened with Samuel. I was very spoiled by intrigues. I feel very lucky. And I hope there will be great things, but I already know there will be.

Samuel quickly became a couple with Jennifer. Unfortunately, the arrival of Pascal, her brother, damaged their relationship. Has trust returned between them?

We’ll have to see what happens with the current plot. But it is certain that trust is a difficult issue. When trust is first broken, it takes time to recover.

But I think Samuel and Jennifer want to rebuild the trust between them. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will come back that way. It takes time. I can only say that in the autumn a new stage will come in their relationship.

Meanwhile, Samuel investigates the disappearance of Yanis. We can see that he is a little suspicious of Jennifer. Do you think if it wasn’t for his girlfriend they would have investigated him by now?

Yes, it covers. But it has to do with what happened with Pascal. He clumsily investigated Jennifer’s past. He realized that in his relationship, his policeman was too much of an advantage.

So I think this time he doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes so as not to endanger their relationship. He takes a little longer to investigate, despite his suspicions. Given what happened earlier and the fact that she’s his girlfriend, this clearly puts him off. He will be torn between his pursuit of justice and his love for Jennifer.

We imagine when he discovers the truth, he hesitates to defend it… He is a character who follows the rules, will he be able to put them aside for him?

I can’t tell you what will happen, but we will find out very soon.

Specifically, will it damage their relationship? The trust between them will be broken once again…

I don’t know if this will really hurt their relationship, but it will continue to develop. And the relationship will also develop a lot this fall, because there will still be many twists and turns. Whether it will be good or bad remains to be seen…

During Plus belle la vie, even plus belle airing on TF1, Samuel had a conversation with Commissioner Liao, where he told him that if his colleagues found out the reasons behind his transfer, it would change everything. Then we realized that Samuel had a secret. Is this something that will be studied?

Yes, hopefully it will be looked into soon. As an actor, I also want to know because it’s been almost a year since this seed was planted. But I understood that it would be on the agenda for the coming months. I don’t know exactly when, but yes, we will learn a little more about Samuel’s past.

How is your collaboration with Diane Dasnini, who plays Jennifer?

It’s going really well. I really enjoy playing with Diane. We are very pampered with writing. We have a very beautiful scene. As for what’s to come this fall, we’ve had some really great days of filming with some really emotional scenes. It’s really nice.

This summer marked the departure of Moon Dale, who played Commissioner Liao. What was your reaction when you heard he was leaving?

I was obviously a little surprised. We didn’t expect it. But that’s part of the life of the series. I like that the characters can go and the audience does not rest.

It’s a bit like Game of Thrones, where the writers weren’t afraid to make iconic characters disappear. Leaving characters creates surprise and surprise. So I love it. Anyway, it was a pleasure shooting with Moon and I wish you all the best for the future.

As a police officer, you are at the center of many intrigues. Isn’t it very tiring?

No, it’s really nice. This is a chance to be able to participate in great intrigues. The stronger the stories and where my character is central, the more stimulating it is as an actor. When I play scenes with passion, I don’t feel tired.

What would you like for the future of your character?

I already want to know more about Samuel’s past because I know it will be very interesting and intense. There are also some very beautiful things that happen, always in this quest for justice, with this heroic side, but we’re going to point out the flaws.

I want to see how he manages to juggle justice and rules with love and romance. I also want to discover darker tendencies, attitudes… would be interesting to explore.

Finally, do you have any projects outside of Plus belle la vie that you would like to tell us about?

Soon I will be playing this Paris, in the series with Alex Lutz, which was seen at the La Rochelle Festival of Fantasy. It tells us about a Paris cabaret. It is a very good series, which should be broadcast on France 2 by the end of the year.

I also have a feature film in which I play one of the main roles, which is expected to be screened at festivals in the coming months. I have also acted in two short films that tell very beautiful stories that I can’t wait to discover.
