The entities strengthen the partnership with financial investments in sport.
Over the last three years, the Brazilian Clubs Committee (CBC), in collaboration with the Brazilian Sailing Confederation (CBVela), has made a strategic investment of approximately R$6 million in basic and high-performance sailing, with the objective of strengthening this sport in Brazil and enhancing the performances of athletes on the national and international scene.
This contribution was directed towards three main axes: acquisition of equipment and materials, hiring of specialized professionals and logistical support for the Brazilian Interclub Championship (CBI) competitions.
In the equipment sector, approximately R$2.3 million was invested in ships, boats, sails, spare parts and specialized uniforms, strengthening the clubs’ training and competition structure.
The largest investment was made in human resources, with approximately R$2.8 million allocated for the hiring of sports managers, coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists and administrative staff, essential for the development of athletes.
“CBC has been instrumental in the development of Brazilian sailing. The investment provides practically everything a sailor needs to develop, such as participating in sporting events, having equipment to train and having professionals specialized in the field of sport to provide him with full support develop both in the technical and tactical part in the water and in the physical, emotional, psychological and physiotherapeutic part on land”, analyzed Walter Boddenner, Events Manager of CBVela.
Regarding the CBI axis, the CBC has allocated approximately R$734,000 in airline tickets, for the benefit of the athletes’ logistics and the technical committee. Nine clubs received these investments: Clube dos Jangadeiros, Yacht Club Santo Amaro, Cabanga Iate Clube de Pernambuco, Yacht Clube da Bahia, Veleiros do Sul, Iate Clube de BrasĂlia, Clube Internacional de Regatas, Iate Clube de Santa Catarina and Clube Naval Charitas , in order of quantity of values received.
The annual investment amounted to approximately one and a half million reais. Approximately 180 athletes benefited directly, in addition to another 120 from affiliated companies as aspirants, who did not receive benefits directly, but mainly benefited from participation in events organized by CBVela in partnership with CBC.
“All this investment highlights the importance of the partnership between CBC and CBVela for the growth of sailing in Brazil, both for future generations and for high-performance athletes. CBVela hopes to increase these numbers in the cycle towards the Los Angeles 2028 Games and thanks the CBC for all the investments made in sailing, which benefit many athletes”, underlined the president of CBVela, Marco AurĂ©lio de SĂ¡ Ribeiro.
The Confederation and the CBC also signed a new work plan for 2025, covering seven national events: Brazilian ILCA Class 6 Championship, Brazilian ILCA Class 7 and 4 Championship, Brazilian 420 Class Championship, Brazilian Snipe Class Championship , Copa da Youth 2025, ICTJ Sailing Week 2025 and Copa Brasil de Vela 2025.
