Production will feature never-before-seen interviews and archive footage of the band
The history of Fleetwood Macone of the most iconic bands of the 20th century, will receive an official documentary, directed by filmmaker Frank Marshall. The project, still without a title or release date, will be released by Apple and should explore more than five decades of the group’s history, from its peak in the 1970s to the present day. The information is from Deadline.
The documentary will feature never-before-seen interviews with the four surviving members of the band’s core group — Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie — as well as archival footage and interviews with Christine McViewho passed away in 2022.
According to Applethe film will cover the band’s legendary trajectory, marked by musical successes, personal conflicts, complicated romances, line-up changes and a cultural heritage that includes some of the most influential songs in the history of rock.
In a statement, Frank Marshall highlighted the relevance of the project:
I’m fascinated by how this incredible story of musical achievement came to be. Fleetwood Mac managed to transform their chaotic, almost operatic personal lives into a unique narrative that has become legendary. This will be a film about music and the people who created it.
Marshall, who has five Oscar nominations and is the winner of Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Awardhas dedicated himself to music documentaries in recent years. He has directed productions such as The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name.
The confirmation of the documentary comes at a time of renewed interest in the legacy of Fleetwood Mac, driven by fictional productions such as the series Daisy Jones and the Six and the Tony-winning play Stereophonicboth inspired by the band’s history.
