Warning, spoilers. Before continuing reading this article, it is recommended to watch the series “Adorazione”.
Released on Netflix a week ago, Adorazione (or Adoration) is an Italian series that is enjoying great success on Netflix. Already in the top views of the platform, this new fiction for young people has won subscribers.
Thanks to the cast of convincing young talent, full of twists and turns and the length of 6 episodes, the series won a certain audience. More than a teenage series, Adorazione also paints an uncompromising, raw and authentic portrait of a young provincial Italian generation.
Its rather dark and complex plot is also based on current issues that teenagers face more and more often, such as family tension or sexist and sexual violence.
What is “Adorazione” about?
Adorazione, created by Donatella Diamanti and Giovanni Gallasi, follows a group of teenagers on a summer trip that will change their lives forever. Heading to the coast of Agro Pontino in central Italy, where the summer holidays for the region’s youth will begin.
As tourists begin arriving to enjoy the beaches of Sabaudia, the disappearance of 16-year-old Elena casts a shadow over the small community. A rebel by nature, his family, friends and the police think he’s just another runaway.
Except they’re wrong. Everyone continues their investigation, which gradually uncovers many secrets, betrayals, violence and family secrets to lead to the devastating truth.
Is a second season possible for “Adoration”?
Despite the success of Adorazione on Netflix, it seems unlikely that it will be renewed for a second season. Firstly, the platform has not made a statement on this topic, although it is too early to make such a decision.
But above all, because the Italian series directed by Stefano Mordini (La Scuola Cattolica) is a free adaptation of the successful novel by Alisa Urciolo, who was the co-creator and screenwriter of popular Italian teen series such as Prisma and Skam Italia.
Adorazione is a mini-series that tells the story of the novel in its entirety and has a bright ending that wraps up the story perfectly. The common theme of this fiction is the investigation of Elena’s death, and the last episode gives us the identity of the killer.

Indeed, the culprit is none other than Enrico, her boyfriend. We learn that Elena was experiencing domestic violence and that he killed her because she cheated on him with Girgio.
Adorazione is therefore not recommended for under 16s, the series deals with violence, sex and sexual violence in the younger generation, like other quality teenage fiction like 13 Reasons Why, Grand Army or recently Ni una más, which was a hit on Netflix. .
The series answers its main mystery at the end of the last episode, it would be surprising if it was renewed for a second season. But if Adorazione’s audience figures are good enough for Netflix, the platform may order other seasons, with new storylines or new characters.
The series “Adorazione” is available on Netflix.
