Teen Wolf: The Movie brought together the leaders of the MTV series at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, where the first trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ film was shown, and the event ended with a surprise visit from Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The action scenes showed family favorites Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin) in trouble. The moment in the trailer that drew the biggest cheers in Hall H was the final moment when Allison Argent (Crystal Reid) returns for season three after leaving as a series regular.
“Alison is alive,” says Scotty excitedly in the trailer. “He’s back.”
Posey, Hoechlin and series creator Geoff Davis attended a panel where they discussed the emotions of bringing the franchise back. “We all needed a break,” Posey said of feeling refreshed playing Scott after a hiatus when the series ended in 2017 after six seasons.
Hoechlin agreed, telling the crowd, “You all went and experienced life without a teenage wolf for a while.”
Davis, who wrote and executive produced the film, recalled telling Paramount+ that he couldn’t write another full season, which meant the film made more sense. As it turned out, the script turned out to be longer than I expected. “I realized I wrote a short seventh season,” Davis said.
Among the film’s clues was Davis’ tease that there would be a time jump. The film’s staff also discussed its focus on Derek’s teenage son Eli Hale (Vince Mathis).
“Playing Derek as the father is a new experience,” said Hoechlin.
As for where Scott will be in his life when the movie comes out, Posey said his character left Beacon Hills and lives in Los Angeles, where he’s not thinking about saving the world. “When we got him, he’s a normal person, still working at the vet and feeling lonely,” Posey said. “It’s about the reality of what it’s like to be a real person.”
Posey shared that Alison’s return would be too much for Scott. “For Scott, she’s wrecking his world,” he said of Allison. “He really doesn’t know what to think.”
About whether or not teenage wolf could see the movie, Davis wouldn’t rule out anything. “There are discussions about doing more,” he said. “It’s up to you: everyone sign up for Paramount+.”
Shortly after the announcement, Gellar greeted fans with a surprise appearance on stage to announce that he would be starring in the upcoming series. a pack of wolves. Davis explained that he recently began filming the series in Atlanta.
“I only came here because they told me they booked Hall H, and I said, ‘Yes, I will do the show.’ buffy the vampire slayer Almor laughed. He added candidly, “Everything these guys have said about the family and atmosphere of the show that Jeff runs is absolutely true.”
Gellar then told Posey and Hoechlin, “I hope you’ll join us.”
