Beauty and the Beast is dedicated to producer and lyricist Howard Ashman, who died before the film was completed. At the end of the credits we can read: “To our friend Howard Ashman, who voiced the mermaid and souled the beast. We will be forever grateful to you.“

The voice of Robbie Benson, the monster’s interpreter, was mixed with the previously recorded growls of the wild animals. This is also the reason why the character changes his voice at the end of the film, after regaining his princely appearance.
Winzite Who is Winzite?
In the opening sequence of the film, on the stained glass windows of the castle, we can read the Latin words “Vincit qui se vincit” (literally “he who can conquer himself will conquer”).
