Marusya Fomina and Fyodor Bondarchuk presented the idea of the film “Elephant” at the full-time defense at the Ministry of Culture, where it was highly appreciated and provided with state support. “Elephant” tells about the fate of officer Georgy Osorgin and his last meeting with his wife before his tragic death in the Solovetsky camps in the fall of 1929. According to the director, this is a story about courage, nobility and true love.
Initially, I conceived a film on a different topic, but plot from the same historical period, – says Marusya Fomina. – Immersed in literature about the beginning of the 20th century in Russia, in one of the books I came across the tragic story of Georgy Osorgin. It was told very simply and briefly, but knocked me out of reality for several days. I was in real pain. And I decided that I would make a movie about Osorgin – his last three days with his wife Lina, which they spent during his imprisonment in the Solovetsky camp. “Elephant” is a movie about the last meeting in times of terrible events for the country, and about how important it is to always keep one’s conscience and soul.
The roles of officer Georgy Osorgin and his wife Lina will be played by Anton Rival (“The Frenchman”, “Actresses”) and Liza Yankovskaya (“Nika”, “Ballet”). The authors of the script were Tikhon Kornev (“The Crew”, “Gogol”) and Igor Poplauhin (“White Light Converged On You”).

Now we are waiting for the start of the filming process and believe in the successful result of the work of the film’s creative team.
The project is being produced by Studio Videoprokat. The release is scheduled for 2024.
