Apple TV + has released the subtitled trailer for “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, a new feature film by Peter Farrelly, director of the 2019 Oscar-winning “Green Book”. The preview shows the absurd premise of the plot, which for how amazing it sounds is based on a true story.
The film tells the true story of John “Chickie” Donohue, a young conservative American who left New York in 1967 to travel to Vietnam to bring beer to his childhood friends who served in the military. The experience turns out to be transformative, because when he gets there he realizes that the war was not what he imagined.
Zac Efron (“Baywatch”) has the lead role and the cast also highlights Bill Murray (“The Dead Don’t Die”), as the owner of the bar where he got the crazy idea, and Russell Crowe (“Robin Hood “) in the role of a photojournalist he meets in Vietnam.
The screenplay is by Brian Currie, who co-wrote “Green Book”, Pete Jones (“Free Pass”) and Farrelly himself.
The premiere will take place on September 30 in streaming.
