The football manager ensures that he remains motivated in his role and praises the autonomy given by Osmar Stabile, who resists internal pressure
Even under strong pressure from councilors and political groups, football director Fabinho Soldado ensured that he was calm and aligned with president Osmar Stabile, head of Corinthians’ football department. The director denied any discomfort with the situation and stated that he will remain at the club as long as he maintains his working autonomy.
“Uncomfortable, at no time. Since I arrived at Corinthians, we have heard some comments. But I confess that I am still very enthusiastic. As long as I have the autonomy to work, I will dedicate myself as much as possible to my team. After almost 30 years in football, we already know how some things work. What matters to me is to give support to my coach, to my athletes, so that they can evolve, work calmly and confidently”, said Fabinho during the draw of the managers on the pitch for the Copa do Brasil final, in Rio de Janeiro.
Hired during the management of Augusto Melo, Fabinho has commanded the department alone since May 2024, when Rubens Gomes (Rubão) left his post as director after an internal split. Since then, the statutory athletic director position has remained vacant and a portion of the Deliberative Council is pressuring Stabile to make changes to the department’s leadership.
“I have been at the club for almost two years, several actions have been taken so that Corinthians continues to evolve. President Osmar has given me complete autonomy to work. My alignment is very direct with him,” added the manager.
“High salary and powers above the common”
Behind the scenes, critics point out that Fabinho has a high salary and powers above those common for a coach bought from the transfer market. The demands intensify with each crisis in Corinthian football. Like the controversy over the purchase of Kauê Furquim by Bahia, the lack of reinforcements before the transfer ban and the absences of Memphis Depay and José MartÃnez in training.
Despite the pressure, Fabinho can count on the support of the team and the trust of Stabile, who reiterated that he does not want to give in to political demands. According to interlocutors, the president understands that stability in football leadership is essential at this time of the season.

“I talk to the president every day. President Osmar gave me the autonomy to work. As long as I have the autonomy to work, I will continue at Corinthians. I have a huge responsibility towards the fans, the athletes and the coaching staff. I will continue to do this job. I have been in football for 30 years. Unfortunately we also know some paths, we know how Brazilian football works,” Fabinho said.
The manager concluded by underlining the good relationships with other areas of the club and reiterating his commitment for the rest of the year.
“I have a very direct alignment with the president. And not only with the president, with a large part of the board, with the legal and financial staff. The contact with some advisors and statutory officials is very nice, very open. I hope to continue to do a good job and give my best for Corinthians, so that we can improve a lot in the national competition and prepare very well for the two semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil.”
