The president of the commission had to intervene to calm the situation
BRASILIA – The federal deputy Rogerio Correia (PT-MG) used the CPI session of the INSS this Monday, 27, to show a photo of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and provoke supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The exposure of the image during the hearing of the former director of governance of the INSS, Alexandre Guimarães, caused an uproar during the session, which required the intervention of the president of the CPI, Senator Carlo Viana (Podemos-MG).
“I think it’s not a plausible conclusion to draw, but there are people who like to conclude these things with photos,” Correia said before showing the image. “But everyone has the photo they deserve, right, President? Let’s put the other photo to show the differences. This is the photo, this is the photo that bothers the Bolsonarists, who were therefore distressed.”
For Correia, the photo shows Lula doing “what a President of the Republic should do: relieve, negotiate, not steal and return the stolen money to pensioners”.
Viana interrupted the commotion caused by the exposure of the image. “I would just like to remind you, very calmly, very simply, of the environment in which we find ourselves. This is a CPI, and the people who observe us, who are not few, expect from us answers, positions and above all commitment on the positions we fear”, said the president of the Commission.
Lula and Trump met on Sunday the 26th in Malaysia to address the relationship between Brazil and the United States. The price of the American country was the main topic. After the dialogue there is still no consensus on the removal of tariffs. “It was not possible, nor did you believe, that in one conversation we could solve problems“Lula said.
