The Wall Street Journal Magazine awarded the artist the Musical Innovator of the Year award; at the event, it was revealed that US$11.5 million from their tour will be donated to various organizations
It’s fair to say that Billie Eilish is very successful. The 23-year-old artist is currently in the final three weeks of the “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour, an extensive international series with 106 sold-out shows. His third studio album received double platinum certification from the RIAA, with 2 million copies sold. She will also donate $11.5 million from this tour to various organizations and charities.
Stephen Colbert revealed the news while delivering the Eilish the Musical Innovator of the Year award from Wall Street Journal Magazinein New York, on Wednesday, October 29th. The funding will benefit organizations and projects that support food justice, climate justice, reducing carbon pollution and carrying out crucial environmental work to combat the climate crisis.
Accepting the award in a room full of wealthy figures — including Mark Zuckerbergwhose net worth exceeds US$225 billion — Eilish wondered aloud why people who have the resources to help others often don’t do so.
“We’re at a time right now where the world is very, very bad and very dark.”he said Eilish. “People need empathy and help more than, like, ever, especially in our country. I would say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things and maybe give it to some people who need it.”

After a light round of applause from the audience, which also included creative figures such as Spike Lee and Questlove, Eilish continued: “I love you all, but there are some people here who have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? Nothing against [No hate]but yeah, donate your money.”
Last year, Eilish spoke to Rolling Stone about her stance on responsibility and activism in her career. “I was never interested in being a model [role model]never”she said. “If you’re going to consider me a role model, let it be in terms of trying to save the environment, and being more conscious about the way you live, your carbon footprint and your contribution to farming.”
In 2022, Eilish signed an open letter from Global Citizen urging the most powerful governments, private sector leaders and billionaires to commit to breaking down the systemic barriers that keep people in poverty and to take climate action.
