After the Actors Guild released the nominees list for the SGA Awards, the Producers Guild of the United States revealed the nominees for the PGA Awards. Both are considered Oscar champions, but unlike the SGA, the Producers award named the two greatest hits of 2022, Avatar: The Way of Water And Top: Gun Maverick.
But it wasn’t just blockbusters that made it into the top 10 Best Picture nominations at the PGA Awards. The Banshees of Inisherin And The Fabelmansconsidered favorites in the same category as the Oscars, and winners of both Best Picture categories (Comedy or Musical and Drama, respectively) at the Golden Globes, they appear among the nominees for the PGA Awards.
Also, some surprises, such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever And Glass onion: a knife-edged mystery emerged from the long list of candidates. Elvis, Everything and everywhere at once, Tar And The whale complete the list.
While the SGA Awards do not have a category for Best Picture, only Best Ensemble, the PGA Awards are seen as a benchmark for the top category of the Oscars. In 2022, for example, seven of the 10 Oscar nominees also appeared on the PGA Awards list, and both were elected At the rhythm of the heart as best film of the year. The reason is that many of the producers union members are also Oscar Academy voters.
The 34th PGA Awards ceremony will take place February 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
