Mr. T to Star in New Netflix Untold Sports Documentary

American actor Mr. T will star in a new Netflix documentary examining his life and career, launching on September 8 as part of a fresh three-part installment of the Untold sports series.

The documentary, titled Untold: Mr. T, will trace the life of Laurence Tureaud, now 74 years old, from his childhood in Chicago through his rise to global fame in the 1980s.

His documentary will be just one of three new sports films being prepared by the streaming platform.

Before gaining international fame for his signature mohawk, gold chains, and tough-guy persona, Tureaud served in the United States military and worked as a bouncer and celebrity bodyguard. His imposing physique subsequently led him to compete in strength contests before making the transition to Hollywood.

Tureaud achieved major breakout success playing Clubber Lang opposite Sylvester Stallone in the 1982 movie Rocky III, establishing himself as one of the most prominent rivals in the film franchise. He achieved wider television stardom portraying B. A. Baracus in the action series The A-Team, and later expanded his career into professional wrestling, animated television, and commercial advertising.

Directed by Scott Weintrob, the documentary aims to reveal the man behind a pop culture character that ultimately grew larger than his individual acting roles. The production features Mr. T himself looking back across his career to recount how Tureaud became one of the defining entertainment figures of the decade.

Three New Sports Documentaries Set for August Release

Netflix will release three standalone sports documentaries in the new Untold series starting August 25, with one new entry debuting each week. Each installment explores the personal experiences of athletes whose lives extended beyond their respective sports disciplines.

The series will open on August 25 with Untold: The Vince Young Story, focusing on the former University of Texas American football player. The film examines his collegiate football career and details how the intense national fame following one of the most significant games of his life impacted his subsequent personal life and professional trajectory.

The second film, Untold: Raygun, Bad Dancing, will feature Australian dancer Rachael "Raygun" Gunn following her viral performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Her breakdancing routines generated widespread internet memes alongside public criticism, online misinformation, and speculation regarding how she qualified for the Olympic competition.

The trilogy will conclude on September 8 with the Mr. T documentary, offering an overview of how an individual figure built a career that bridged sports and mainstream entertainment.
