“When I met Paulo Francisco and his music, I was already crazy. Influenced by Debussy, the great erudite composers and our MPB teachers, he is already a great pianist and composer, young, sensitive and with explicit Jobim influences also in his playing: he sings the song and solos the melody on the piano with his right hand and Jobim used to do it and he didn’t even know it”reveals Leila.
“For me this meeting was a gift and I imagine it was a gift for him too. We are already soul mates, we are two people who admire each other, love being together. And I have great expectations with him, who will be very well received, because I have a longer career than him, but I think we’ll make a lot of noise together. This is our first collaboration, but I already want to record more songs from him and with him.” celebrates the iconic artist of MPB extension.
“Leila has always been one of the great references of Brazilian music for me and for my parents, who have always been passionate about music”account Paul Francis. “She is a source of inspiration for all Brazilian music composers who make songs. Now, for me it’s a dream come true: it’s everything a young composer wishes, that a great singer of his level records one of his songs. It is a privilege for me, and the one who bridged the gap between me and her was Fafá de Belém – she has her credit, she has Fafá’s hand there. It was immediately a wedding, we met, I showed her my songs and liked them already and now I see my dream come true”concludes the pianist.
