This selection “reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock and roll,” said John Sykes, president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Cleveland, Ohio-based institution that honors music greats.

The 2023 list also coincides with a historic year, marking the 50th anniversary of the hip-hop genre and the 90th birthday of the legendary Willie Nelson.

Artists are eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first commercial music release. They are voted on by a body of over 1,000 peers, music historians and industry veterans.

The new inductees will be formally inducted Nov. 3 at New York’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s annual ceremony, which this year will return to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
